Professor Mike Kerr

Professor Mike Kerr is professor of Learning Disability Psychiatry and Honorary Consultant in Neuropsychiatry at Cardiff University, Cardiff Wales.

His clinical practice is in the epilepsies associated with intellectual disability and in the assessment and treatment of epilepsy and psychiatric disorder. In addition he is part of the team who run the Cardiff Rett Clinic.

Academically he has published widely, over a hundred publications, on epilepsy, intellectual disability and neuropsychiatric conditions. He has held research grants from many funding bodies.
He is chair of the Advisory Board for Wales of Epilepsy Action and is a medical advisor for the Rett Society and Epilepsy Bereaved. He is a trustee of Epilepsy Research UK. He is a member of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) commission on neuropsychiatric aspects of epilepsy. He chairs the sub commission of the ILAE developing practice guidelines for the management of neuropsychiatric illness in people with epilepsy and the Task Force on epilepsy and intellectual disability.

He is a member of the editorial board of the Cochrane Epilepsy Group
